Wellness consultation in San Diego
Most appointments at an aesthetics and wellness practice start from a treatment. This one starts from a problem.
It exists for people who know something is not right — persistent tiredness, weight that will not move, sleep that is not restoring anything, a general sense of running at eighty per cent — and who do not want to pick a treatment off a menu and hope.
What the appointment covers
Full history, and the timeline of whatever brought you in
Current medications, supplements and recent changes to either
Sleep — duration, quality, and whether anything suggests a sleep disorder
Activity, including strength work, which is the component most often missing
Alcohol, caffeine and stress, discussed usefully rather than as a box to tick
Weight history, including what has been tried before and what happened
Blood work where it is indicated by the history rather than as a default
⚠️ What this is not
It does not replace your primary care physician, and it is not a substitute for one. If you do not have one, that is worth addressing — and it is the kind of thing this appointment will tell you.
It is not a full executive physical, an imaging package or a screening program.
And it is not a panel of forty markers ordered as a matter of course. Testing without a question to answer produces incidental abnormalities that lead to further tests, worry and occasionally harm. Blood work here follows from the history.
If something found here needs specialist care, you will be told so and referred rather than managed at an aesthetics practice.
The things most often behind how people feel
Persistent fatigue commonly turns out to be sleep — not enough of it, or disturbed by something worth diagnosing. Untreated sleep apnoea is far more common than it is diagnosed and it is a genuine medical condition.
It is also, frequently, thyroid dysfunction, iron deficiency, low vitamin D, depression or anxiety, alcohol, or a medication side effect. Each is common, each is identifiable, and none of them is treated by a drip.
Weight that will not move usually has a mechanism worth finding — thyroid, medication, sleep debt, a large gap between what is being eaten and what is being counted. That mechanism determines whether the medical weight-management program is the right answer or the wrong one.
What happens afterwards
A plan, in plain terms: what looks likely, what is worth testing, what to change, and what to review and when.
Sometimes that plan is one of the practice’s programs. Sometimes it is a referral, a conversation with your own doctor, or a change that costs nothing. All three are legitimate outcomes of the appointment, and a clinic that only ever arrives at the first is not assessing anything.
Questions about wellness consultation
What happens at a wellness consultation?
A structured assessment with a physician: full history and timeline, medications and supplements, sleep, activity, alcohol and stress, weight history, and blood work where the history indicates it. It ends with a plan in plain terms.
Is a wellness consultation the same as a physical or a health screen?
No. It is not a full executive physical, an imaging package or a screening program, and it does not replace a primary care physician. If something found needs specialist care you will be referred rather than managed here.
Will I get a full blood panel?
Only what the history indicates. Testing broadly without a question to answer produces incidental abnormalities that lead to further tests, worry and occasionally harm. Blood work follows from the assessment rather than preceding it.
I am always tired. What is usually behind that?
Most often sleep — insufficient, or disturbed by something diagnosable such as sleep apnoea. Also commonly thyroid dysfunction, iron deficiency, low vitamin D, depression or anxiety, alcohol, or a medication side effect. All are identifiable, and none is treated by an infusion.
Will the consultation end in a treatment?
Not necessarily. Sometimes the plan is one of the practice’s programs; sometimes it is a referral, a conversation with your own doctor, or a change that costs nothing. A clinic whose assessments always conclude in a purchase is not assessing anything.
